Built like the real exam
Thirteen questions, in the SOE order
Four preoperative, six intraoperative and three postoperative questions: evaluation and optimization, the anesthetic plan, airway, monitoring, an intraoperative crisis, emergence and a postoperative complication.
Voice only, like exam day
No typing and no on-screen script. The examiner waits while you think, probes when an answer is vague and keeps a realistic pace, so you train how your answers come out, not just what you know.
Graded against an answer key
Every case has a written answer key. You get a verdict (pass, borderline or below standard), a rating on each of the four ABA scoring attributes, your critical errors, the high-yield points you missed and what to study next.
Study mode when you are learning
The same exam with an answer card after every answer: how it compared with the bar, the key points you made and the model answer. Try the question again, or move on.
Cases on what you need
A growing case bank across the common ABA topic areas, or a case built around the surgery, disease or emergency you choose. Each comes with a full patient chart.
Fits around call
Pause an exam and pick it up later at the same question. Your progress shows the time you have put in, the surgeries you have covered and which attribute to work on next.
More than a chatbot
A general chatbot answers whatever you type. Anesthesia Oral Boards is a system built around the exam. Cases are written inside a framework designed by a board-certified anesthesiologist and checked automatically for the SOE structure. Each one is reviewed by a separate AI reviewer before it reaches you. The examiner follows the case's script, and a different AI grades you against the case's answer key on the four ABA attributes. We test every change before it ships.

Built by someone who sat this exam
Anesthesia Oral Boards is made by two brothers: a board-certified anesthesiologist, who designed the exam framework, the grading rubrics and the examiner's question flow, and a software engineer, who built the app around it. It started when fellowship hours left one of us no time for mock orals, so the other built a voice examiner he could practice with on his phone.
Residents preparing for the oral boards keep hitting the same two walls. Realistic case stems are hard to come by, and a friend willing to spend hours playing examiner, then swap, is harder to find. The case generator handles variety; the examiner means you can drill alone, out loud, on your own schedule.
The AI writes each case inside that framework rather than improvising medicine, and grades you against the case's answer key.
Questions
Is this the real exam?
No. It follows the public SOE format and its question order. Anesthesia Oral Boards is not affiliated with or endorsed by the American Board of Anesthesiology.
Does it replace mock orals with real examiners?
No. It gives you daily repetitions between them, so you bring sharper answers to the mocks you do get.
Can the AI be wrong?
Yes, occasionally. It is a study tool, not medical advice. Grading is anchored to each case's answer key, and you can report anything that looks off from inside the app.
What do I need?
